Since 2022 CFES Economists have worked with POVAT Team Members in calculating the economic benefit of an increased disability rating for disabled service members with the Department of Veterans Affairs. CFES Economists donate their time to assist Project OVAT with the representation and advocacy of service members who based upon their service related disabilities seek to increase their disability rating which would entitle them to possibly increased monthly benefits, lifetime health benefits,and potential tax benefits. Based upon our research and as discussed in the Fall 2023 Journal of The American College of Trial Lawyers, the average life economic benefit increase to a disabled service member through the POVAT program is $491,918.

April 2019 Senior Economists Chad Staller and Steve Dripps worked with Gwen Stern, Director of the Trial Advocacy Program at the Drexel Law School. Mr. Staller and Mr. Dripps spent the evening with the Trial Advocacy Program students discussing deposing expert witnesses and the interaction of experts and lawyers. The students had the opportunity to meet with and prepare the forensic economist for a deposition. Each student got to take an expert deposition and defend an expert deposition.

Senior Economist, Chad Staller lectured at the DRI Trucking Litigation conference on June 12, 2015. The seminar was a primer for young lawyers. Mr. Staller lectured on forensic economic damages that commonly arise in trucking matters. Mr. Staller also lectured on deposing a forensic economist and his observations from the deponent's seat.
In June, Center economists were invited to serve as faculty at Cozen O'Connor's Trial Academy. The Cozen Trial Academy is a week-long trial-skills training program for Cozen attorneys from around the country. Center economists were Chad Staller, David Adams, Stephen Dripps, Brian Conley, and Adam Gilham. Center economists worked with the attorneys in preparing for expert trial testimony and cross-examining the opposing economist. After working with Center economists in preparing their cases, the attorneys presented Center economists in a mock trial.

Center Senior Economist, Chad Staller was a featured guest on Law Call on Monday November 24, 2014. Law Call is a weekly news program on WCBM Talk Radio AM 680. Mr. Staller discussed on the program the calculation of economic damages in catastrophic loss cases and the presentation of economic damages at trial.

Staller, M.B.A., J.D., M.A.C., C.V.A., Senior Economist James Markham, Ph.D., J.D., CPCU, Senior Economist David Adams, Senior Analyst Brian Conley lectured at the Saiber law firm in Florham Park, New Jersey on "Preparing and Examining the Economic Expert." The program was a three hour CLE program that allowed participants the opportunity to prepare an expert economist for deposition, examine the opposing economist in a deposition setting and defend their own economists testimony in deposition. The program focused on witness preparation, trial tactics, and presentation of expert testimony at deposition.
Chad Staller and James Markham lectured to students of Temple Law's Trial Advocacy program on September 14th and September 17th. The programs focused on working with expert witnesses in litigation and the presentation of economic damages at trial.
July 19, 2012 Center for Forensic Economic Studies President Chad L. Staller, M.B.A., J.D., M.A.C., C.V.A., presented "Preserving Privilege In Communications With Consultants and Experts" to the Philadelphia Law Department at its annual CLE program held at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Panel members included The Honorable L. Felipe Restrepo, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, The Honorable Patricia A. McInerney, Court of Common Pleas- Trial Division, Civil, Philadelphia County, and Alan B. Epstein from Spector Gadon & Rosen, P.C. The program was moderated by Cara E. Leheny, Divisional Deputy City Solicitor, City of Philadelphia.
On April 3, 2013, Center President, Chad Staller presented a two hour CLE on Commercial Damages in Litigation. The program provided an overview of key accounting and financial concepts for commercial litigators. Additionally, the program focused on the various methodologies for computing economic damages in commercial disputes and the relevant discovery that commercial litigators should conduct when evaluating an economic damages claim.

The program was a half-day CLE program that allowed participants the opportunity to prepare an expert economist for trial, present the economist at trial and cross-examine the opposing economist. The program focused on witness preparation, trial tactics, and presentation of expert testimony at trial. Additional faculty members included: John C. Lore III and Andrew L. Rossner from Rutgers School of Law, Kevin R. Gardner of Connell Foley, and Francis P. Karam of Francis P. Karam, Esq. LLC.

Center for Forensic Economic Studies President Chad L. Staller, M.B.A., J.D., M.A.C. and Senior Economist James Markham, Ph.D., J.D., CPCU lectured on effective damages-case presentation to a trial-advocacy class taught by Gwen Roseman Stern, the school's director of trial advocacy. The two economists also acted as experts in a mock witness-examination exercise conducted by the class.

Center for Forensic Economic Studies President Chad L. Staller, M.B.A., J.D., M.A.C., spoke on the Effective Use of Economic Experts in Section 1983 Litigation at the February 3 meeting of the Defense Research Institute’s Civil Rights and Governmental Tort Liability seminar in Miami on February 2. He presented a hypothetical case involving profound injuries to a family of three and an undocumented domestic worker, outlining the unique damage issues arising under each separate claim.

The November 15, 2011 issue of the Legal Intelligencer, Philadelphia's daily legal newspaper, featured a case-preparation checklist of economic damages issues and evidence in injury and employment matters. The checklists, compiled by the Center for Forensic Economic Studies, offer a guide to the basic elements of damages and some of the issues that often arise. Also included is a list of document useful in assessing the extent of loss.
Economists from the Center for Forensic Economic Studies recently acted as expert witnesses at in-house training exercises for two leading law firms: Cozen O'Connor and Ballard Spahr.
In March and again in May Center economists Chad Staller, James Markham, Stephen Dripps, Brian Conley and David Adams acted as expert witnesses at a two-day program designed to sharpen the participants' deposition skills.
In June, the Center economists once again acted as experts at Cozen O'Connor's Third Biennial Trial Academy, a week-long trial-skills training program for Cozen attorneys from around the country.
